Q: How long have you been with SMB?
A: I have been with SMB for nearly 12 1/2 years.

Q: What does your job entail?
A:
I am a billing specialist for podiatry and DO providers, so I handle the full spectrum from claim entry and submission to claim payment.

Q: What made you want to join SMB?
A: Cheryl Sands had been a long-time family friend and I knew she operated a successful business, so when I was in a place to consider a career change, I approached her about the possibility of working with SMB.  Thankfully, she and Glen gave me an opportunity and it’s been one of the best decisions I ever made.

Q: What’s the most exciting thing you are working on right now?
A: I am the biller for a new provider that just partnered with SMB, so I have been extra busy getting their account set up to run as efficiently as possible.

Q: What motivates you?
A: I value integrity and honesty and I try to reflect that in my work ethic at all times.  My motivation comes from wanting to do my best work possible and helping my doctors and their staff feel confident to trust my abilities and knowledge.  Whether it’s a large project or the smallest detail, it’s important to me to meet those standards.

Q: What’s one thing you learned in the last month (business or other)?
A:
In my personal life, I discovered I have a love of coaching volleyball.  This is my first year coaching my daughter’s competitive volleyball team and it’s something I have a passion for and will continue as long as possible.

Q: What’s your superpower?
A:
I like the challenge of identifying the root cause of a problem and fixing it as well as finding better, more efficient ways of operating. This trait has served me well in this profession as it adds value to my work when appealing claim issues, handling denials, and time management.

Q: What is a fun fact that people may not know about you?
A:
In my free time I enjoy baking pastries or desserts and breads, however, I am completely gluten intolerant, so I give most of it away to neighbors and friends (after my family has some, of course!). I enjoy the challenge of baking, but have no interest in eating it once it’s completed!

Q: What’s on your bucket list?
A:
That list is lengthy and involves lots of travel, but the current goal is to camp in Glacier and Olympic National Parks. My husband and I love to camp and hike with our two daughters, and visiting National Parks is something we enjoy doing with them during the summer and school breaks.
